After we finally left Geraldton and headed towards Jurien Bay we visited a number of the different towns along the coast to have a look. One place we did venture into was Dongara where to Hannah's delight we found a BIG LOBSTER.
The plan was to stay in a camp that was about 12km north of Jurien Bay called Sandy Bay. This was a camp that we had just behind the sand dunes and didn't have to walk far to the water. We had a tree that was beside us that the kids took a liking to and enjoyed climbing and exploring the tree, turning it into their own little tree house. Due to us not leaving Geraldton til late we didn't arrive till late so there wasn't time once we set up apart from cooking tea.
It was a great spot with us seeing more sea life watching a sea lion while we were eating breakfast.
The next day we went for a drive to have a look around Jurien Bay and travel further south to look around Cervantes and the Pinnacles. We had been promising the kids some seafood since they tasted some cray claws at Carnarvon so we visited the Lobster Shack in Cervantes were the kids and I had some Lobster for lunch while Strick had some fish and chips.
The kids were a little surprised with visiting the Pinnacles as they began by saying they are just rocks (thanks Hayden Blattman) and once we started getting out and walking around they were fascinated with how they were formed. They also enjoyed playing hide and seek around the Pinnacles and sneaking up on each other. It is amazing how they are just in the middle of no where and how they are formed.
The majority of the morning was spent driving around looking at different views from lookouts and having a look around the area. The afternoon when we returned to camp the kids had a swim, Strick tried AGAIN to catch some fish and I went for a walk to a lookout at the point where I was able to overlook the Bay on one side and the ocean on the other side. Some great views and was an enjoyable walk over the sand dunes.
It had been a great spot at Jurien Bay (apart from the mosquitoes). Another place bites the dust with us being on the move the next day into Perth and Fremantle.
