Mataranka Thermal Pools 4th July 2014

We found a great camp spot in at the Elsey National Park (Jalmurark camp ground). You could have a fire with your own wood, there were flushing toilets, hot showers and a place to swim and each camp had plenty of space. Before heading into Kakadu we took the kids to the Thermal hot springs on the way into Mataranka. They were excited to be able to have a swim even if it was only short.

Devils Marbles 3rd July

The night the kids were looking forward to.  This was one spot we stayed last time. Kids enjoyed watching the sunset and were also keen and eager to get up and see the sunrise. Weather was a little warmer than at Alice Springs. Camp was a little busier this time around to 2 years ago with us having the place to ourselves with only one other camp. This year you struggled to find a free space. Long pants are now off with jumpers still needed of a morning and evening.

Kakadu 5th to 9th July 2014

We have made it into Kakadu. The jumpers and pants are well and truly dumped now (although are handy to keep the mosquitoes away). Have some exploring to be done here and is nice to set up camp for more than one night as we are here now until Wednesday. As we have service will keep you informed of our adventures.

Cheers fron Daly Waters 5th July 2014

Day 5 was Devils Marbles to Mataranka. On our way we stopped in at Daly Waters for a nice cold beverage (raspberry for Jacob and icy poles for Louise and Hannah). It was absolutely packed with people. A school group from Tassie had called in and were staying the night. We were glad to be only calling in.

Our second border crossing 2nd July 2014

We finally have made it into NT. Blue skies and slightly warmer. It's also the first night in the camper and a cool one it is too with Alice Springs expecting -2 overnight. So will see how we go. We move onto Devils Marbles tomorrow night. We then moving onto some new territory for us with a road we haven't traveled.

Underground at Coober Pedy 1st July 2014

This was a new experience for us all staying underground in a motel. It was interesting with how the temperature stayed constant throughout. Kids were fascinated even if Jacob doesn't look like it here.

Big Winch at Coober Pedy 1st July 2014

This is the kids at the Big Winch at Coober Pedy. It is something that Hannah has been wanting to see and add to the list of BIG AUSSIE ICONS that she has seen.
